Best of AirBnBs in Chania: a Review

In this blog post, I will be sharing my experience of staying at Emeli Suites, one of the best Airbnb properties in Chania.

Introduction

Chania, Crete is a destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich history, and unique culture. During our stay in Greece, we island hopped from Athens to Crete, then traveled to Chania from Rethymno, a short 1-1.5 hour drive, and decided to spend 24 hours in the city. To get the most out of our trip to Chania, we decided to stay in an Airbnb to experience the local way of life. After some research, I found Emeli Suites, which is located near Chania's Old Town, and offers a perfect blend of modern amenities and Cretan charm.

Price of Airbnbs in Chania

The average price of Airbnbs in Chania, Greece can vary depending on the season, type of property, location, and amenities offered. Generally, March (when we traveled) falls within the low season for tourism in Chania, and as such, prices are more affordable than during the peak travel season. However, specific prices can still vary widely depending on factors such as the size of the accommodation and its location in relation to the city center or other popular tourist attractions. On average, a one-bedroom Airbnb in Chania can range from $30-80 per night during March, while larger properties with multiple bedrooms may range from $70-150 per night or more. The average price during June tends to be higher compared to other months due to the peak travel season. June marks the beginning of summer in Chania, and visitors flock to the island to enjoy the warm weather and beautiful beaches. On average, a one-bedroom Airbnb in Chania can range from $60-120 per night during June, while larger properties may range from $120-250 per night or more. It's always a good idea to compare prices and amenities across different properties to find the best value for your budget.

We stayed in our Chania Airbnb during the low season in March and paid $133.00 USD for one night. This was incredible value for our dollar, considering this was a new build with completely new and modern appliances and decor. This same AirBnb runs approximately $181.00 USD per night during the summer, during which time travel to Greece is much more popular. During summer, a two-night stay is also required to book, compared to the one-night minimum during low season which we were able to take advantage of.

We made sure to book this Airbnb stay on our Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card, which offers two times Chase Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar spent with AirbnB. This means that we earned an additional 266 Chase ultimate rewards points from this stay with AirBnb. Learn more details about the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card.

Airbnb Location

Emeli Suites is located in the charming neighborhood of Koum Kapi, which is known for its lively atmosphere, trendy cafes, and vibrant nightlife. Situated just a few steps away from the beach, this Airbnb boasts an excellent location that's perfect for travelers who want to explore the best that Chania has to offer.

Koum Kapi is a historic neighborhood that dates back to the Ottoman period and is characterized by its narrow streets, colorful houses, and traditional architecture. The area has undergone significant revitalization in recent years and has become a hub for the local creative community, with many artists, musicians, and writers choosing to live and work here.

Despite its central location, Koum Kapi has managed to maintain its laid-back, bohemian vibe, making it a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike. The neighborhood is home to a variety of cafes, bars, and restaurants that serve up delicious local cuisine, as well as a thriving nightlife scene that attracts crowds of young people.

Accommodations

Emeli Suites is a series of three recently renovated apartments that features a contemporary design with a touch of Cretan elegance. Throughout our stay, the hosts of Emeli Suites were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They made us feel at home, and their attention to detail was evident in the thoughtful touches throughout the apartment, such as the complimentary bottle of local Cretan wine, fruit, and and homemade treats included when we first arrived.

The Airbnb far exceeded both of our expectations. The room had great natural light from the large window. The marble floors were beautiful and the large bed was a very comfortable way to rest after our drive from Rethymno. The robes and slippers provided in the bedroom were also an excellent and elegant touch. The highlight of the experiences was the en-suite jacuzzi in the living space. The jacuzzi was easy to use and was lined with a number of artificial candles and lighting, setting the mood for a truly romantic evening after a day of exploring.

The small kitchenette in our suite featured a Nespresso machine with complimentary Nespresso coffee and distilled water provided by our host in the mini fridge. There were also a variety of teas the choose from. Dishes and glassware were also provided, though we didn't prepare any food during our one-night stay.

The bathroom was a standout and included a modern sink and beautiful glass shower with rainfall shower head. The marble extended throughout the bathroom. Towels and toiletries were plentiful, and the bathroom also featured an electric towel warmer to keep our towels nice and toasty.

Our Emeli Suites accommodations also included a balcony from the main living area. Although it rained during our stay, we appreciated the small balcony with space large enough for a set of chairs and a table.

Parking

Although Emeli Suites did not offer guaranteed parking spaces, we were easily able to find street parking a block or two away from the Airbnb. There are also municipal parking garages located within in 2 minute walk from the Airbnb. Even though we returned to our airbnb later during the evening, we were still able to find street parking within walking distance of the apartment.

Final Thoughts

Emeli Suites in Koum Kapi, Chania is a fantastic Airbnb option for anyone looking for a comfortable and stylish stay in one of Crete's most vibrant neighborhoods. The location is unbeatable, with easy access to the beach, local attractions, and a range of cultural experiences. Whether you're traveling alone or with a partner, the brand new suite is the perfect base from which to explore the city.

Not only is the location excellent, but the suite itself is also modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The host has gone to great lengths to ensure that guests feel at home, providing all of the necessary amenities and even some thoughtful touches like local wine and cookies. The suite is spacious and airy, with plenty of natural light and a comfortable bed, making it a great place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring.

I would highly recommend Emeli Suites to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable stay in Chania. The Airbnb offers a perfect blend of style, comfort, and location, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a memorable trip from Athens to Chania, one of Greece's most beautiful islands.
